7 Benefits of Spending Time Alone

Today on the podcast, I offer 7 benefits of spending time alone. Sometimes we get too caught up in being lonely and choose to spend time with the wrong people. A couple weeks ago I published an affirmation about avoiding toxic people so that you can feel less lonely.

I also did an interview on Empower Radio recently about why people don’t remove themselves from toxic relationships. (You can get my cheat sheet for that at the bottom of these show notes.) Both of these posts inspired some questions and feedback from listeners because they understood that they should remove toxic people, but they didn’t want to be lonely. They asked me why being alone would be better than spending time with these people.

Why is being alone better than spending time with these toxic people? Here are seven great benefits of spending time alone.

The benefits include:

  • Being Able to Do Whatever You Want
  • Setting Goals and Achieving Them
  • New Hobbies
  • More Time to Read
  • Exercise (yes, I really said that!)
  • Time for Soul Searching
  • Becoming an Expert at Something

Spending time alone is sexy and more powerful than it’s cracked up to be! You can easily reframe the time you spend alone as a gift you give yourself.

When you’re alone, you have an abundance of time to spend in ways that help you learn, achieve, and enjoy your life. Look forward to and enjoy the time you spend alone. It gives you the power to do anything you want. You’re the boss.

We've already established that 2020 did not go acc We've already established that 2020 did not go according to plan and 2021 may not follow the script either. So many things are uncertain and anything BUT business as usual. What I know for sure, though, is why I got into coaching in the first place. I have a real passion for helping women reconnect with the best part of themselves and build their confidence based on who they are. And I am committed, come what may, to help my clients create plans for their lives that are real and attainable and fit them like a glove. How can I help you in 2021, friend?
How do you get yourself motivated on a Monday morn How do you get yourself motivated on a Monday morning? For me, meditating and having a leisurely cup of tea with almond milk creamer is a great start to my day. But not until I’ve listened to my theme song! (I Wrote My Way Out from Hamilton, the Mixtape version). My theme song changes from time to time but it always gets me excited about the day and dancing in my seat. I absolutely LOVE what I do, but sometimes I just need a little extra time to get in the right frame of mind before spending the day being a mirror for others. So how about you? I want to hear how you motivate yourself… maybe it will inspire others in the comments!
Did you get enough sleep last night? No? Well, don Did you get enough sleep last night? No? Well, don't be afraid to get back in bed, sis, sleep is magical! I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for reasons to sleep late because I sometimes can't resist staying up even though I need my sleep. Like the other night when I stayed up until 4:20a binge-watching the 3rd season of Star Trek: Discovery. Yes, I did that. What's the last show that made you lose sleep?
Raise your hand if 2020 looked anything like the p Raise your hand if 2020 looked anything like the plans you made for it at the end of last year! Yeah? Me neither. But you know what? I never would have guessed I’d have grown my coaching practice 3-fold as a result of a global pandemic and shutdown. I learned my flexibility and ability to pivot is critical to being happy and successful and that I can survive just about anything and continue finding joy and laughter. What unexpected lessons did you discover in 2020? And what’s in the plans for ’21?
Are you ready to scream if someone asks you for ON Are you ready to scream if someone asks you for ONE MORE THING? Here's a quick solution: Say No. You can say yes to all the things that matter, IF you say no to the things that don't. You can't do everything. Let me say that again, you cannot do everything. Did I hear a sigh of relief? Good. All that stuff that isn't important right now? Let it go. I'm becoming a 'let it go' ninja. Who's with me?
Just as there are seasons throughout the year, the Just as there are seasons throughout the year, there are seasons throughout our lives that change too. When this year began, I have a pretty rigid set of expectations. Ha! Fooled me! I'm not mad because I'm now in a completely different space, knowing that by bending I won't break. Flexible is the name of the game, staying on the balls of my feet. I’m so grateful for these changes, because it’s a reminder that nothing lasts forever. What season are you in today?
Low self-confidence isn't a life sentence. Why do Low self-confidence isn't a life sentence. Why do we think a circumstance has to last forever? It doesn't. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of the best things about my coaching programs (besides getting to frolic with me, the original Chief Encouragement Officer) is the boost in self-confidence you'll experience. I know how to help you tap into all your strengths and skills and remember how awesome you are!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
